Sunpath Diagrams

Essential Tools for Accurate Manual Solar Site Assessments

Sunpath diagrams and angle estimators help approximate the azimuth and elevation of shading objects reflected in the Solar Pathfinder™ dome. Clear grid and paper options assist with manual site assessments and regulatory forms. Diagrams are latitude- and application-specific and mix-and-match pricing is available. Each Solar Pathfinder™ includes 20 free diagrams; bulk pricing and replacements are also offered.

Due to supply chain issues, large orders of diagrams may be backordered. Please contact us for details.

Angle Estimator - Paper Diagram

The angle estimator is used to approximate the azimuth (degrees east or west of true south or north), and the elevation (degrees above the horizon) of any object reflected in the Pathfinder's dome.

Angle Estimator - Clear Diagram

The clear grid lays over the traced diagram and is used to approximate the azimuth (degrees east or west of true south or north), and the elevation (degrees above the horizon) of any object reflected in the Pathfinder's dome. One is included in each unit.

The sunpath diagrams are latitude and application specific and can be mixed and matched to meet your needs.

How The Solar Pathfinder™ Is Used

Using a reflective dome, the Solar Pathfinder™ captures site shading. When combined with a sunpath diagram, this allows for quick identification of shading obstructions and their impact on solar availability. By placing the unit at the desired location, installers gain a clear understanding of the site's solar potential.

Once again, I used my trusty Solar Pathfinder. This time, I needed to find a place for my bee hives. Being in a warmer climate, I wanted them to spend their time making honey, not trying to keep their hive cool!
